Drinking Water Supply 24/7 - Mombasa Old Town WaterKiosk®
Located in the heart of Mombasa's Old Town, in the middle of a densely populated neighborhood and just a short distance from Mombasa's historic Old Port, the WaterKiosk provides locals with up to 20,000 liters of clean drinking water per day. The raw water source comes from a shallow borehole that is heavily contaminated with seawater and toilet flushes. The high population surrounding the water kiosk made it necessary for the plant to provide water around the clock. The Mombasa Old Town WaterKiosk is therefore equipped with three automatic water filling taps, which are operated with money and tokens. A 10kw solar power system supplies the entire system and its operation with electricity.
