Water supply in the settlement scheme - Masongaleni

Masongaleni village is located in the region of Makueni County. The area is a semi-arid region. They experience little to no rains in a year. The village is a settlement scheme, where most of the residents are working at the sisal farm. Water is one of the biggest challenge the people face. They walk long distances to just access water which is contaminated. The rate of waterborne diseases was very high to school going kids.

Masongaleni Waterkiosk is delivering 20,000 liters of clean hygiene drinking water per day. A 9.8kW of solar array is powering the entire system and its operation. Residents access the water throughout the day. The rate of waterborne diseases has gone down.
