Potable water along the coast – Mtongwe WaterKiosk®

Mtongwe is a coastal town located in Mombasa County. Mtongwe is inhibited with a huge number of lower class people who mostly ply the ferry to and fro Mombasa Island in search of menial jobs. Water in that region is quite a challenge. Most of the water used comes from shallow wells, which are not only salty but also contaminated.

The Mtongwe WaterKiosk produces up to 20,000 liters of fresh drinking water in a day, powered by 9.3kW of solar. Now the residents can attend to other chores because of the availability of drinking water all the day long. Mtongwe residents can now smile all the way to their kitchens, drink fresh water and kiss their acute water shortage problems goodbye.
